Mega Robot Shootout

Year 2014
Credits
Project Description Mega Robot Shootout is a First Person Shooter (FPS) game that is different than any other First Person Shooter you have played before. Most competitive FPS games have a problem when the skill levels of players differ by a large amount. The weaker player becomes frustrated that they do not have a chance to win, and the stronger player becomes bored due to the lack of challenge. By using aiming assistance to help the weaker player perform better, all players receive an optimal experience. Mega Robot Shootout has been used in two different research projects, and the results indicate that it is effective at gameplay balancing. Five different aiming assistance techniques have been implemented in the game – Target Lock, Bullet Magnetism, Area Cursor, Sticky Targets, and Target Gravity (see the paper for more information). Mega Robot Shootout is a fun game that can be enjoyed by everyone.
